Classic Clay Tennis Courts

Classic Clay Tennis CourtClassic Clay is quite simply a revolution in the clay court world, resulting from lateral thinking and many years of testing and development.

The Classic Clay tennis surface 'system' incorporates patented technology to achieve an extremely low maintenance, world-class clay surface that plays in wet and dry weather conditions. The playing surface retains all the attributes of a traditional clay court, and introduces numerous unique benefits. The surface plays like clay, slides like clay, has consistent ball bounce characteristics and looks exactly like a perfectly prepared clay court with virtually no maintenance.

“We considered several tennis surface alternatives before we chose Classic Clay for our facility.  Players really wanted to install a clay surface for our existing two courts.  The demolition and construction cost for other clay surfaces would have been 2-3 times more. I am glad we made the right choice as Classic Clay plays fantastic and it really has very little maintenance.”

The complete, play ready court system is easily installed, easy to maintain, very cost effective and environmentally friendly. It is suitable for any upgrade, rejuvenation or new court construction.

If you are considering a long lasting and low maintenance clay court for your club, resort or home, the Classic Clay surface is increasingly becoming the first choice of professionals and enthusiasts around the world.

In reality the surface comprises a combination of synthetic grass fibers and graded mineral infill which has been dyed and furnace fired to produce the perfect French Clay colour and play characteristics with none of the maintenance problems generally experienced with a real clay court.

Some of the most attractive aspects of the Classic Clay system, are the cost savings.

“Thank you for introducing 3 Classic Clay® courts to Kaanapali Alii Resort!  The response from our owners and guests at Alii has been outstanding.  We had soft clay courts before but Classic Clay® beats them all for solid footings, sliding and true ball bounces.  The more the courts are used the happier I am with them.  I was concerned about how heavy tropical rains would effect the courts in West Maui.  After a 15 inch rainfall in 12 hours we had to do absolutely nothing to the courts.  Amazing!  We look forward to many years of enjoyment of Classic Clay®.  I will be happy to speak to any of your future customers.”

Zero water usage

Water is expensive, not getting cheaper and a serious consideration with ALL traditional and many ‘artificial’ clay courts. The global water crisis is nothing new and the greatest threat to traditional clay courts in drier regions. Many international regions impose restrictions and serious fines on the misuse of water. Classic Clay is one of the ONLY clay courts that requires no water at all.

Low maintenance

Another primary benefit of the Classic Clay system is the extremely low maintenance. The only requirement is to ‘bag’ or ‘drag mat’ the court after heavy usage and should become court etiquette. This will ensure the surface has the correct distribution of infill. Foreign debris such as leaves, twigs and rubbish should be sifted from the infill and removed.

“We have a total of 4 Classic Clay at our racquet club.  We started with 2 courts 2 years ago and liked them so much that we replaced 2 more hard courts last year. We are a 12/7 facility with a lot of players and the Classic Clay courts are clearly the preferred choice over our hard courts. Teaching is also better on Classic Clay.  We get rain showers every day in the summer in South Florida and the courts are always ready to play on.  Classic Clay dries very fast.  It is just an excellent surface choice.”

Looks like a professional 'watered' clay court

Nothing is more attractive to existing and potential members than perfectly groomed, watered and competition ready courts. The Classic Clay system requires no watering but the courts appear to be ‘moistened’ due to the colour pigments used in the treatment of the mineral infill. The colour remains consistent across the entire surface and is UV treated and fade resistant.

Cost effective alternative to traditional clay construction

The new construction of traditional clay courts is fast becoming an unviable consideration for many reasons. Above any maintenance and water restrictions, the initial investment is immense and difficult to justify. The total investment for a Classic Clay system is a fraction of a traditional clay court and has many advantages as outlined.

“Our 4 Classic Clay were installed over existing hard courts in 2005 at our club.  Everyone including myself just love the courts. Classic Clay is just an incredible clay surface – much better than traditional Red clay and HarTrue clay.  As far as maintenance – there really is none…all we do is drag the courts once a week.  Anyone looking at installing Classic Clay, please call me!”

Increased play time due to better drainage and rapid dry characteristics

Classic Clay courts are the fastest drying clay courts in the market.  Play in most cases resumes immediately after a rain shower.  Damp weather and continual rain will not stop play, thus vastly increasing total court time in a season.

Cost effective alternative to imperfect existing hard courts

Substandard or neglected hard courts are potentially dangerous, brutal on player bodies and not an attractive proposition for play. The Classic Clay system has the ability to install right over a damaged or cracked hard court (naturally within reason) enabling very simple and easy rejuvenation or upgrading of a court surface.

“Classic Clay was installed at our club 3 years ago and it is always busy and players really like using it.  I will highly recommend Classic Clay to anyone who considers a low maintenance clay surface.  All we do is run the drag mat over the court a 3-4 times a month.  Last year we added a few bags of clay for the first time since we bought the surface.  That’s it for maintenance!  It rains a lot here in the Summer, but the court is always ready for play. Totally amazing.”
